Lolita fashion is a fashion subculture originating in Japan that is based on Victorian-era clothing, but the style has expanded greatly beyond Japan. The Lolita look began primarily as one of modesty with a focus on quality in both material and manufacture of garments. The original silhouette is of a knee length skirt or dress with a "cupcake" shape assisted by petticoats, but has expanded into various types of garments including corsets and floor length skirts. Blouses, knee high socks or stockings and headdresses are also worn. Lolita fashion has evolved into several different sub styles and has a subculture that is present in many parts of the world.. Although many people point to Japan for the Lolita trend, as the creator of the "Lolita Fashion", the origin of its meaning is complex, and remains unclear.
There are many style types an today were going to have a look at some '*Gothic Lolita' looks within the Pullip family branch.
*Gothic Lolita : Sometimes shortened to GothLoli (ゴスロリ), is a combination of the Gothic and Lolita fashion. The fashion originated in the late 1990s in Harajuku, Japan. It’s characterized by darker make-up and clothing. Red lipstick and smoky or neatly defined eyes, created using black eyeliner, are typical styles, although as with all Lolita sub-styles the look remains fairly natural. Though Gothic make-up has been associated with a white-powdered face.

Pullip ‘Noir’
Noir is one of the most well-known Pullip. And also has been regenerated in the ‘Regeneration seires’. We still have the old Noir and to compare with the new one. I’d say the old one is more gothic and cute. The regenerated one is more sophisticated. Many of our fans love the different eye color (Heterochromia iridum)
Pullip ‘Suigintou’
She’s from the ‘Rozen maidon’ anime. We have a old and new version of this type that came out this year. In the anime she’s a strong and cunning character but also has a warm heart. Just like in the Manga.
Pullip ‘Seila’
Seila has a very classic gothic Lolita look. She’s covered with lace and has crazy hair to maintain. If you see close, you’ll see that her hair color is not solid.
Dal ‘Lyla’
Lyla is from the ‘Monter night’ series. Pullip is a witch, Isul a vampire, Taeyang a werewolf and she’s a little gothic Lolita girl that transforms to a ghost.
Isul ‘Midnight déjà vu’
This doll was one of our favorite dolls from 2012, gorgeous look with great details. The purple velvet and smoky look goes well with Isul.
Pullip ‘Nella’
Nella was collaboration with the, well-known, ‘Alice and the pirates’ brand. She has many gothic Lolita elements, full with details. You’ll see that her white pale face pops out against her dark outfit. Nella came out with Isul ‘Johan’. He’s also in gothic Lolita fashion. Their style made the ‘Gothic & Lolita Bible’ magazine (Vol.41) cover in Japan. And with the success the ‘retro’ version came out.
I can see that most of the dolls that’s we’ve introduced are sold out from our official shop. It would be safe to say that many doll lovers love gothic Lolita dolls. But I know many that say the look gives them the creeps. So…next time let me show you some ‘Classic Lolita fashion’.
